The other game I played was Fable 2, I only lasted a few hours with this before I got bored with it , it may have been I didn't feel like playing it or it could just be it was that boring that I couldn't continue (oh and the damn annoying children at the start, sure they are meant to be showing the start of the plot but they are almost as annoying as that little girl in the Golden Compass movie...aaaargh, just wanna throttle the little brat), I guess attempt 2 may be needed.
Apart from those I have been playing World of Warcraft : Wrath of the Lich King and apart from my Guild Master kicking me from the guild because I told him to man up and learn to manage a guild and that peeps were getting left out of things because he was not putting in effort (even his dad thought I was right, and I was eventually reinvited to the guild), I have found WotLK to be quite enjoyable and the content (apart from the Wintergrasp bug making it so that the Alliance are overpowered, big surprise, Blizz favoring the Alliance) is quite good and the dungeons and raid offer some quite enjoyable challenges that keep you on your toes.

It has arrived! A week ago Wrath of the Lich King entered stores and being the geek I am I went to a midnight launch (this event showed me I am not as much of a geek as all those other people). Within 18 hours people were already at Level 80, and heres me chugging away at Level 72 *le sigh*. A week later I hit 80 before anyone else in my guild and the bragging rights are secured (though no realm firsts in our guild, I missed out on being Realm First Jewelcrafting by like 2 hours)
So far, i have to say the game is pretty good, though there is still a lot of content to explore. Though questing to Level 80 was an annoying thing, there was still fun to be had in the new seige engines and different warmachines you can utilise to destroy your foes. The dungeons are great especially the Old Kindom dungeon whose last boss makes you go "Insane" which makes it seem as though your teammates have turned on you (its actually just clones of your teammates so its ok to kill them). The new area Wintergrasp which is a massive seige area in which your faction is either defending or attacking is also a new addition which allows the use of seige vehicles to smash down the castle walls, the only downfall is it only happens once every couple of hours. There is also the addition of the battle ground Strand of the Ancients which is around similar style to Wintergrasp with seige engines and defensive turrets but you have limited time to breach the walls and capture a relic to win.
I am hoping to explore a lot more content over the next few weeks and hopefully it is all as great as what I have already seen so far.

Set in the distant future Earths population has been mostly wiped out by a war known as the Great Destruction, those remaining live underground due to the harsh conditions above ground. The world is ruled by 2 major companies, Chrome and Murakumo. You play a Raven, a mercenary who pilots an Armored Core (AC), basically a giant robot with lots of big guns. Throughout the game you take on missions from Ravens Nest, these missions are usually for the major corporations Chrome and Murakumo but there are a few missions for random people every now and again. As you go along in the game you learn more about Chrome and Murakumo and at one stage you will have to chose to do a mission to take down one of those companies. Most of the missions involve killing certain targets or guarding objects. Occasionally there will be missions which are a little trickier and involve a bit more than just killing, such as one where you have to destroy some little robots in a power plant but if you destroy and generators you lose money and eventually if you destroy enough you fail the mission (I didn't read mission text and went in guns blazing first shot). Occasionally you will find parts for your AC throughout maps (one of the best guns in the game is found this way as well as an awesome generator) all you need to do is look around and sometimes trash the scenery.
There are a few little tricks in the game that get you neat stuff, if you play the game a certain way and become whats known as Human Plus (sort of enhanced humans) you can get an awesome move that sends a wave of energy at your enemy and does a lot of damage. There are a few other nifty little tricks but I'm too lazy to put them in here.
I give Armored Core an 8/10. It is an awesome game and even though it was made in 1997 I think it still holds its own against other games.

Racing round blowing up crap with and array of weapons...FUN!!!
Assault Rigs is a time based game where you have to collect a certain amount of gems throughout a level and survive in order to progress to the next level. You have the choice of 3 types of "Rig" there is a slow but heavily armored tank made to survive a beating, a medium armor and medium speed tank which allows you to either take a beating or make a retreat if needed, the third is what I use more, a fast, lightly armored "Rig" which lets you zip around the levels as well as around your enemy, blasting it so fast it can't get a sight on you.
There are 41 levels in total, each unique and with its own little tricks in it that get you to the gems. Assault Rigs is not all racing round shooting, for parts you need to solve puzzles to get to gems and most of the levels require careful navigation otherwise you fall off of ledges and end up back at square one which when on a timer can be quite annoying. The game does have a multiplayer mode but it requires system link which involves linking yourself to a friends PlayStation and requires they also have the game.
For being made in 1997 this game is pretty good and is quite fun to play especially if you like a good challenge and like to blow things up. I give this a 7/10.

Yokai! Creatures that helped shape the Japanese folklore and brought a smile to my dial. What does this have to do with gaming? Nothing!
I was reading the New York Times and on the front page was an article on Akaname, the little fella in the picture here. Akaname lives in bathrooms and comes in at night to lick the bathroom surfaces clean.
I had a further look into the Yokai and found this little gem, Tanuki, a mischeivous master of disguise, but it is the description (linked into his name above) which caught my eye and made me giggle not to mention the little rhyme further down the page which is as crudely descriptive as it is funny.
Anyways that is my bit of culture for now, there is a recently released book Yokai Attack which I hope to read soon to find out more about Yokai.

Azeroth and the Outlands are plagued by Zombies! The zombies are infesting cities and town and turning anyone they come in contact with into one of them. Throughout all the towns are Argent Healers who can cleanse you of their plague if you get to one in time, if not, you become a zombie and are cursed to wander around eating flesh and infecting all around.
For a few days Blizzard have made a bit of fun where players can turn into zombies and run around like a nut infecting players and characters. As a zombie you have a few base funtions, you can mangle people, infecting and damaging them in the process, you can "retch" a vile substance that infects all in its radius, you can call non player zombies to you to help out, you can "lurch" after people giving you a speed boost and them a bit of a scare. The only downfall to being a zombie is the only way to completely sustain yourself is to attack NPCs (Non Player Characters) or you can attack other players or else you run out of life and die, your "retch" also gives you health but eventually you will die if you do not eat someone. If being a zombie is not your thing then you can fight the zombie menace, but I reckon its more fun being a zombie.

Set in both 2012 and 1191 and revolving around Desmond Miles, a bartender who has been kidnapped by a company known as Abstergo and is being held in order for Abstergo to access his genetic memory (memories from his ancestors that have been passed on through genes) through use of the Animus, thus allowing Desmond to relive the life of Altair, one of his ancestors who was part of the Assassin Brotherhood in 1191. The game starts with memories of Altair attempting to retrieve an artifact known as the Piece of Eden, but he is stopped by Robert de Sable, a member of the Knights Templar. Altair attempts to kill de Sable but fails and upon returning to the Brotherhood is demoted to an Initiate by Al Mualim "The Teacher", who is leader of the Brotherhood. Altair is then given the chance by Al Mualim to rise back up the ranks of the Brotherhood by killing 9 key figures within the Holy Land, taking you to places such as
Most of the gameplay is centred around Altair with a few parts where you control Desmond and find out more about the company Abstergo. As you progress through the ranks of the Brotherhood as Altair you learn new abilities which help you defeat your foes. The game requires you to use your abilities to find clues and information on how to assassinate key figures within the game, you can interrogate people, do tasks for people within your Brotherhood in exchange for what they know and when you aquire enough information you can take on your target to help take down the Knights Templar and remove them from the Holy Land. There are also additional achievements for things like surviving a jump from a certain height, kill a certain amount of foes in one fight or take out all the Templars scattered throughout the Holy Land. The game is only single player so those of you who enjoy multiplayer may not enjoy it as much but it is still a quite enjoyable game and it has a great plot line which is based around historic characters and events, making for a bit more substance to the game.
I give it a 9/10 as it is a great game and has fantastic graphics which just draw you in. The game has great replayability as there is a lot to do within it.

You can play on your own or play multiplayer through the whole campaign, switching through characters as you utilise thier unique skills. You can access computers t open doors as R2D2, or lift objects with the force as Luke, Obi-Wan or even Darth Vader and the Emperor, you can fly through asteroid fields in the Millenium Falcon of pilot an X-Wing as you destroy the Death Star, you can even run around and remove limbs as Chewbacca. The game has lots of mini quests where you run around and find things in order to unlock new items, abilities and characters.
It is a great game that is easy to play and great fun for all ages and I recommend it especially if you are a fan of the Star Wars movies. I give it a 10/10, it is awesome and it has great replayability, GO BUY IT NOW!!!! I COMMAND YOU!!!

Once again Master Chief has found his way back to Earth but this time aboard a Forerunner ship which is controlled by the Covenant. The game starts with you plummeting to Earth which is once again under attack by the Covenant. Master Chief jumps to the front line to fight the Covenant and fight his way to the main Covenant Ship alongside the Arbiter who has now seen the error in his ways in blindly following the Prophets. A more dangerous threat arrives in the form of the Flood, a parasitic race of creatures which take on attributes of their host and basically devour every living thing. The Flood were encountered on both Halos and have been led to Earth by Cortana who was trapped in the Covenant mobile homeworld High Charity which was overrun by the Flood in Halo 2. The Flood have used High Charity to come to Earth, a fabulous new food source. Master Chief soon changes priority when he finds out that Cortana is aboard High Charity which has crashed to Earth and he rushes to save her from being destroyed by the Gravemind, a being which controls the Flood. It soon becomes a race against the clock as it is realised that the remaining Covenant still loyal to the Prophets have found another way to activate the remaining Halos which in turn will eliminate all life in the Universe and the heroes Master Cheif and Arbiter must go to a Forerunner installation known as The Ark to save the entire galaxy. The campaign for this installation is through Master Chief's eyes with the Arbiter there to back you up and whilst the graphics are better the gameplay is similar to the other 2 Halos and they have kept the dual wielding of one handed weapons from Halo 2 and added a few extra weapons and some cool new vehichles to play around with. Multiplayer is much the same with the addition of customisable maps so that you can change positioning of weapons, vehicles, movable terrain and even respawn points, making it so that you can make games much more interesting. The addition of the Mongoose, a quad bike vehicle, has made for faster capture the flag missions and also has taken dinking to a whole new level, allowing for a rider and a passenger on the back who can shoot at enemies as you ride by. There is also the addition of the Hornet, a VTOL like vehicle that is kinda hard to control at first but has an advantage of missiles that track players. Halo 3, like Halo2, has the option to play online, but also has the ability to record videos of you playing Halo3 or take screenshots and show them to other people on Xbox Live.
Halo 3 is a great game and I recommend it for any fans of the Halo series, as well as any fans of shoot em up games. You don't need to play the first 2 Halos to play this one but if you want to follow the storyline it is definitely recommended. I give Halo 8/10, slightly lower than the others because the meanies left the ending wide open, making me wanna find out what was next.

In a little over a month (39 days if you wanna be fussy) the much awaited Expansion for the World of Warcraft series shall arrive in stores in Australia (Bloody America gets it 4 hours before us. Damn them to heck). Wrath of the Lich King will be set in the cold, harsh land of Northrend where the Lich King has awoken and is getting set to destroy all life on Azeroth.
The addition of a new class of character the Death Knight is sure to make things interesting and there is no doubt players will make one just to see what they are all about. Another addition is the new profession of Inscribing which allows the Inscriber to augment the effects of spells and abilities, they also will have the ability to make Vellum for Enchanters to put their enchants on which will make it easier to sell enchants. There will be new races which will be found in the land of Northrend including Tuskarr, a race of walrus people, natives of Northrend. There are a lot more things that Lich king will have to offer but I'm too damn lazy to go into detail.
With not long left before Lich King hits the stores now is the best time to get to Level 70 so you don't miss out (or if you just want a Death Knight then 55 is the Level to get to).

A few of the more popular Machinima series are Red Vs Blue which is made using the Halo series of Games and Oxhorns World of Warcraft films. Both of these series are comedy machinima and mostly satirically based around events and features within those games. There have also been a few feature length Machinima include a Star Trek themed movie created using the games Star Trek: Elite Force 2 and Starfleet Command 3.
Here is an example of Machinima made by Oxhorn using World of Warcraft footage. Enjoy!

Once again Nintendo have released the Mario Kart title onto a new console but this time with a few fun and interesting changes that make the game that bit more fun.
Mario Kart Wii is a fun racing game aimed at all ages, it involves numerous characters from the Mario Bros games who all have different racing styles so as to give the player a bit of choice.
The game has both Single Player and Multiplayer modes, both having the choice of straight out one race competitions, multi race point based competitions and battle mode where you smash it out with friends and family or join forces to beat the computer players.
Mario Kart Wii also has the great ability where if you have a Internet connection (Broadband is a requirement for this) you can connect online and race or battle with friends in other places or with complete strangers, we all know its fun to show a random person who is king of the Kart :).
Also with Nintendo Wii's motion sensitive controllers it takes Mario Kart to a whole new level, players can use their Wii Remote as a steering wheel, turning the Kart with a turn of the controller. Players can also use the Mario Kart Wii Remote holder which is basically a steering wheel with a slot for the Wii Remote, making it a bit easier to steer. The use of the motion sensitive Wii Remotes is a great feature and if you get a chance to glance at your friends while playing, is quite hilarious to watch...
I think this game is a must have if you have a Nintendo Wii as it will provide hours of fun and has great replayability and is a great title for all ages to play as it is easy and great fun.
I give this a 9/10 and I recommend if you don't have a Nintedo Wii, go out and buy one just for this game!!!

An oldie but a goodie, Final Fantasy VII was an RPG (Replaying Game) made back in 1997.
It revolves around a young man named Cloud Strife who basically works as a sword for hire after leaving the employ of a massive corporation named Shinra as one of their elite warriors "Soldier".
As the story unfolds you gradually learn about Cloud as he himself figures out the truth in his past. Along the way he meets up with friends both old and new who accompany him on his way to finding the truth about his past and eventually saving the world.
The game has a solid storyline which draws you in though due to his memory issues Cloud can be seen as a bit insensitive and cold. The game has hours and hours of playability and its replayability is great because there are so many things to discover that the you miss the first time around. The graphics in the game are very dated but heck, the game is massive and for 1997 it ain't half bad.
Recently a movie based after the games events was released, Final Fantasy VII : Advents Children. The movie has stunning CGI and even if you haven't played the game it is still quite watchable with great fight scenes and great characters.
I give this game a big 10/10 because it was the game that brought me into the RPG category. I recommend it to any gamer even though you will need to track it down. It is on PlayStation only but thankfully it is compatible on all their consoles.
